Rivers State Governor Affirms Decision-Making for Peace Amid Political Crisis

In a resolute address during the inaugural state banquet on January 1, Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, asserted that his administration’s decisions in the ongoing political turmoil were not driven by fear but by a commitment to fostering peace within the state. The governor’s position was conveyed through a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Boniface Onyedi.

Governor Fubara, extending New Year wishes for a prosperous 2024, urged the residents of Rivers State to embrace the ongoing peace initiatives facilitated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Emphasizing a dedication to steering clear of divisive political conflicts, he highlighted that his administration’s focus is on propelling the state towards development.

In his address, Governor Fubara remarked, “Every decision that we’ve taken is not borne out of fear but because we have the interest of our people, and we have respect for elders.” He appealed to the citizens to actively contribute to maintaining peace, emphasizing that the state’s progress relies on unity and collaboration.

Governor Fubara expressed a firm commitment to establishing a legacy of unity and development rather than one marred by political tension. The leader urged the populace to rally behind the administration’s vision for a harmonious and prosperous Rivers State.

Meanwhile, Dr Tammy Danagogo, the Secretary to the State Government, commended Governor Fubara’s unwavering dedication to delivering the dividends of democracy despite the prevailing political challenges. Describing the governor as “calculated, humble, honest, and hardworking,” Danagogo encouraged the people of Rivers State to champion peace, truth, and justice, underscoring the importance of these values in steering the state towards continued greatness.
